Stormtrack

By James Sutherland
1974

The inaugural offering in the short-lived "Harlan Ellison Discovery Series" of the mid-1970s -- books, as Ellison wrote, "by talented newcomers whom I feel deserve a showcase" -- was this undistinguished "first contact" novel centered on the crew of a weather satellite. Stock characters, stilted dialogue and a plot only tangentially related to meteorology makes this a forgettable novel.
