Doomsman

1967

A wild, violent space opera nugget. Montoya, a feral child discovered in the wilds of Argentina, is abducted by the evil AmericaState and forced to join the assassination corps, then sent on a mission to murder his own father, head of a rebel city beneath the sea! As much a psychological thriller as an action-adventure tale.

The 75-page novella, written in 1958, was published as part of the Belmont Double Science Fiction series. It was paired with Telepower by Lee Hoffman in the 1967 edition and The Thief of Thoth by Lin Carter in the 1972 incarnation.

The rumor that Ellison rips apart every copy he comes across is wildly exaggerated.
