A full decade after the first collection of Dark Horse's graphic adaptation of Ellison stories comes this second edition -- not so much a collection as a coda, since only a single published issue of the original comic book -- totalling six stories -- is represented here.
In the deal, however, the reader gets eight additional pieces that were prepared for subsequent issues. On balance, this collection is superior to its predecessor, Volume One, both in the general quality of the stories selected and the acuity of the artists in adapting those tales. And Ellison once again demonstrates his own visual approach to story-telling with "Goodbye to All That," one of his finest, for which he first imagined the illustration, then commissioned the painting (masterfully realized by Kent Bash), and finally conjured the story.
